Genius

In an effort to ignore the fact that my stomach could not hold it's own in the wee hours of the morning I flipped on the television and lucky for me Disney's 1999 Made-for-TV movie Genius was showing. If you don't already know, the movie Genius is about this 14-year old prodigy child (played by Trevor Morgan) who enrolls in college, falls for the daughter (Emmy Rossum) of the college hockey coach and therefore creates alter-ego Chaz in an effort to befriend said daughter as well as kids his own age.
Personally, I think the 90's was prime-time for Disney and their Made-For-TV movies which would show every Friday evening at eight o'clock. And I loved them. So my stumbling across Genius at one in the morning tickled me pink.
It was during this showing when I realized that Disney knows how to make hockey movies right. Putting Genius aside for the moment, let us all recall the film Miracle and how it nabbed the ESPY (Excellence in Sports Performance Yearly) award for Best Sports Movie as well as nominations for a Critics Choice award and Golden Trailor. Or how about The Mighty Ducks? All award winning and nominations aside, the Mighty Duck movies are undeniably some of the best sports films out there to this day. Yes, I say that statement because it is what I feel and no I do not have actual evidence to back it up (unless you count the fact that I can sit through all four the Mighty Duck films and feel like I have no wasted a minute of my life).

All I am saying is Disney knows how to do Hockey movies.
