First off, before my day started I was watching E! Entertainment. And the stylist Kim Vo was walking the streets of Hollywood offering makeovers to random women. Now, there are many things which bring out the feminist sleeping in me and they all have to do with this man (but his PR agent is either brilliant or he's just a really nice fellow because I still can't hate him). I think I flipped the channel during the middle of this segment but it did not take a genius to find that his goal was to style the hair of these unsuspecting women in the same fashion as their ideal celebrity in (I suppose) ten minutes or less. Now, I don't have too much of a problem with this mainly because he wasn't a dick about it - but it does make me wonder if there were women with whom the question "Hi, did you want a makeover?" offended greatly.
I envision the situation going a little something like...
KV "Hi! Excuse me! Can I stop you for a second? How would you like a makeover?"
Woman "What? Who are you?"
KV "I'm Kim Vo from E! Entertainment! Today I'm doing makeovers in the street! Who's your favorite celebrity?"
Woman "...Are you saying I'm ugly?"
And so on and so forth.
Hm! Anyway, today was a good day. I had lunch with our family friend from Fresno (SAY THAT TEN TIMES FAST) with whom we met on the European tour. It was really enjoyable! I was actually kind of nervous because Suzanne is so much older than me (mom of two, entreupeneur, etc.) and I was afraid we would have awkward silences and whatnot - you know, since according to certain kids I tend to be extremely immature and give off the impression that I am not to be taken seriously (what? Nobody is bitter around here!). But it was really neat. She comes here a lot because she has a couple of businesses here and asked me about some hot spots and what not so that was really cool that I could share some of my townie knowledge. I told her about Dizzy's, the Emerald, Pappaleccos and Bibby's. Off the top of my head those were some of the places which I suggested she go to. I pushed Dizzy's though because she is a jazz lover - people get paid for this sort of exposure right? Pay me Dizzy's! My wallet is calling for you!!
Also today I spotted Nathan and we talked for a little. It was really nice because this time I didn't get too tongue-tied/middle-school-girl-crush on him like I usually do. I mean, I was still a little giggly and whatnot but I was certainly more articulate than the last time I saw him. Not only that but I held eye-contact. He smelled like cigarettes when we hugged. Yum! It's bad, I know but I've always loved the smell of tobacco on people, like after they finish smoking? It's quite appealing. I also let him know that I'm never ever going to let him forget that he stood me up three times. But I also let him know that I think he is probably one of the nicest young men I have ever come across in my life. Corny right? I wasn't self-concious at all. Simply because I never see him. He's like a ghost!! So because of his habit of never being around I thought it would be appropriate to let him know that I think he's simply wonderful. I'm a little lame, forgive me.
Tonight is the big bash for Clifford and Raffy. Happy Birthday to them and I apologize for not being able to make it. Next time kids!
